Lackluster characters. Kate does nothing but whinge about how she was "cheated" of her aristocratic birthright and how very, very beautiful she is. Nick does nothing but moon over Kate and how very, very beautiful she is. Blech. I love this author and am not ready to give up, but this is by far my least favorite of her works.
I didn't care for this at all until the very end. Alina was annoying and the emphasis on physical appearance was very pronounced. However, the last couple of chapters redeemed this somewhat. Will try book two, but only if the library has it.
Had to stop reading after the "heroine" finally, finally confessed to Mark and then got ANGRY when he became upset! No, just...no. You don't get to be pissed at someone when you've just told them you were planning on seducing them then betraying them for money. And this right after he proposed to you. Ugh! Hated Jessica. She might not be the worst romance heroine ever, but I bet she's close. I think I'm done with this author.
Surprised at how much I disliked this. Cynthia was a horribly unpleasant character and all of Miles' mental lusting was tedious. It's too bad, because I really liked the first in this series.
This was a truly wonderful book. My only complaint is with the heavy-handed portrayal of foster mother Dina. A lighter touch would've been more in keeping with rest of the narrative.
