This book made no sense. Some wtf the moments:At the very beginning, the crotchety old patriarch makes it very clear that he dislikes the aristocracy. BUT, in order to gain his inheritance, his female relatives must MARRY A DUKE.
Idiot Phoebe accepts a marriage proposal from someone who's first name she doesn't know!
Even more idiotic Calder proposes to a woman he's NEVER EVEN MET! Then invites this stranger AND HER FAMILY to move in with him...that day!
Maybe this thing made more sense after the 100 page mark..but I doubt it.
Couldn't get past the first chapter. It became a wallbanger after the contemptible author describes paying for her husband's funeral (funeral!) with a credit card so she could get the frequent flyer miles. Horrible. How does this garbage get published?
While the author's use of mood was excellent, I found the main character to be too unlikeable for me to enjoy this book. Evie was vapid and selfish and remained that way until the end of the novel. I was also extremely disturbed by the casual use of animal cruelty. Will not be continuing this series.
Not sure what happened. I loved the first book in this series, but just couldn't get into this one. May try again some other time.
Way too many instances of the word "gah" and the tail creeped me out every time it was mentioned, which was a lot!
